When a fictional character with a big and obsessive enough fandom dies, they will sometimes bend all rules of logic and hold a funeral for the said character. Such is the case when the fans of Breaking Bad’s Walter White hold a wake Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M., the show’s location, who died in the series’ final episode.

The funeral also doubles as a fund-raiser, which garnered $17,000. Around 200 mourners pay money to throw dirt on the interred coffin, which was placed in a real grave site and topped off with a real headstone. Michael Flowers, the show’s decorator delivered the eulogy to the cheering fans.

But the event did not go without stirring any controversies, as people protested and expressed concerns that the grave site will draw countless tourists into the cemetery, disturbing the cemetery’s peace. A petition is now being held to remove the fake grave site.

The proceeds will go to the Albuquerque’s Healthcare for the Homeless organization.
