Another proof of how strong and influential the internet fandom is through this amazing feat of turning a promotional 30 sec video of an animation studio into a real anime series.

When Animation DO released a 30 sec promo spot featuring four male swimmers in all their hunky glory. The promo video was supposed to only showcase the studio's new and improved animation.

Instead, an entire fandom was created in Tumblr. Fan fictions, self-made biographies and story plots were made revolving around this video. Petitions were also done to make this an actual anime and lo and behold, it really became possible!

Now fans are clamoring to watch "Free!", the title of this anime and the new added character in the series.
