Pepperoni Pizza Casserole

Description

Tailor this casserole to your taste the same way you would prepare your pizza. Use your favorite meat and pasta, and use other ingredients that you prefer. Serve with a salad and garlic bread.

Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef (mixture of ground beef and ground pork, Italian sausage or ground turkey)
8 oz. package uncooked egg noodles, ziti, penne, spaghetti or angle hair pasta
16 oz. jar spaghetti sauce, or more as needed (or pizza sauce)
2.25 oz. can sliced black olives, drained
2.5 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
8 oz. package sliced pepperoni, coarsely chopped
20 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish or equivalent in size.

Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking the meat apart into crumbles while cooking, about 10 minutes. Discard grease.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water until cooked through yet slightly firm, about 5 minutes; drain.

Mix noodles with the spaghetti sauce, black olives, mushrooms, pepperoni, ground meat and half the mozzarella cheese in a large mixing bowl; spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish; top with remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil.

Bake until casserole is bubbling, 30 to 45 minutes.
