2 - 8 inch lengths of grosgrain ribbon, 5/8 inch wide
12 inches of grosgrain ribbon, 3/8 inch wide, contrasting color
3/8 inch round, wooden dowel rod
2 wooden clothespins with springs
tin foil
baking pan
glue gun and glue sticks

The center of the butterfly bow will be a korker bow. To make, take the 3/8 inch grosgrain ribbon and wrap it going down a wooden round dowel rod, being careful not to overlap on itself. Secure both end with wooden clothespins. Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Place on baking pan that has been covered with tin foil. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven, cool. Carefully slide the ribbon off one end of the rod.

To make the butterfly, take an 8 inch length that you have cute and place a dot of hot glue on one end and then place the other end on top of it. Hold till firm. Do this with your other 8 inch length of ribbon. Now make a figure 8 out of one of the ribbons that you just glued by slightly shifting the middle to one side. Place a dot of hot glue on the inside middle of the ribbon and hold till dry. Repeat with other ribbon.

Take the 2 ribbons that you just glued and place one on top of the other, one a little to the left and the other a little to the right until you achieve a butterfly look. Place a dab of glue between the two being careful to keep the butterfly look. Hold till firm.

Now take the Korker bow that you made and place it on top of your "butterfly" and cut the Korker to the desired length. You may first want to pass each end of the Korker bow through a flame of a cigarette lighter so the ribbon doesn't fray. Then hot glue the Korker bow on top of the butterfly. Hold till firm.

You may want to hot glue your butterfly on a metal barrette or a ponytail holder.
