Get your tissues ready ladies (and gentlemen) because the British actor and Internet sensation is officially engaged to theater director and actress Sophie Hunter. Considering the fact that not a lot of people has heard of her (even though she moves around the same circle as stars), it's no surprise that many fans out there are completely shocked and heartbroken (Benedict was too good at keeping things secret).

The engagement was made pubic via a traditional announcement in London's The Times today that read "Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch," was engaged to "Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter … and Charles Hunter."

We're heartbroken but cheers to the happy couple!
