DURING VACATIONS WE SOMETIMES HOME EXCHANGE OUR ENTIRE HOUSE... MOST OF THE TIME WE SWAP FOR A STAY IN OUR GUEST APARTMENT. EITHER WAY YOU GET A FANTASTIC OCEANFRONT EXPERIENCE. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT AND WHERE YOU HAVE TO OFFER- AND YOUR FLEXIBILITY. FOR EXAMPLE, SUMMERS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR US. WE HAVE MANY GUESTS AND FAMILY VISITING, BUT YOU MAY TRY A LONG- OFF SEASON- WEEKEND OR WEEK BY THE SEA, IN EXCHANGE FOR A FUTURE STAY AT YOUR PLACE IN MANHATTAN. READ MORE...
ABOUT OUR HOUSE: Situated on a rocky bluff overlooking a quiet cove with the open ocean just beyond. Our contemporary house is located on Peach's Point- a private dead end road at the very tip of the Marblehead peninsula. Watch everything from kayaks to ocean liners drift past this spectacular view. Rocky cliffs, islands, beaches, light houses, lobster boats, sea gulls, seals, and swans- looks more like the coast of Down East Maine, but it's all right here, less than 20 miles from downtown Boston. Easy access to the city by car or nearby bus. Our three bedroom, three and a half bath house has three levels- two bedrooms are on the lower level- each with its own bathroom, along with a laundry room and a six person hot tub right outside the door. The middle level of the house has the living room, kitchen/dining, and half bath, however the huge deck overlooking the water is the main attraction here.
AGAIN, WE OCCASIONALLY SWAP THE ENTIRE HOUSE, BUT THIS OPTION IS MORE LIKELY: Our top [third] floor has a private guest suite with it's own locked entrance, small kitchenette, living area with 60" flat screen TV, full bath [shower], and a spiral stair that leads up to a sleeping loft with king size bed and two twins. A fold out sofa allows a family of five to sleep in this "apartment". Fantastic views from up here and from every room in the house. We would be living-and working in the main part of the house downstairs during your stay. Sure, you can use the deck and the hot tub downstairs- grab a kayak or a bicycle or just explore Boston and the beautiful North Shore. This option offers us more flexibility with our schedules. It would be a non-simultaneous swap. Come stay for a long weekend or a week- eventually we'll get to your home, condo, or your own guest suite.
ABOUT OUR TOWN: Marblehead [Birth place of the American Navy] is a sailing / fishing / artist community on a peninsula, twenty miles north of downtown Boston. It's an easy drive into the city or you can catch the bus down the street. Beautiful seascapes all over town, but none finer than the view from our house at the very tip of the peninsula. Our contemporary house is located in an exclusive neighborhood on a private dead end road, overlooking the North Atlantic. Walk the narrow winding streets to the village harbor front with quaint restaurants, shops, and historic sites. Bicycle to nearby Salem, Massachusetts with its Witch History and Peabody Essex Museum. Rockport, Gloucester, and other parts of Cape Anne are a bit farther away- a very scenic drive. The ski slopes of New Hampshire are two hours north, Cape Cod two hours south, and New York City is four and a half hours away.

We have no plans to visit NYC in 2012, but perhaps in the next year or two. Currently we owe people a visit- and we are owed visits- in several continents, having just returned from Scandinavia. We are a very active couple in our 50's and have met lots of wonderful new friends while house swapping during previous vacations. Everyone stops and stares at the magnificent view when they arrive here in Marblehead- and they love the guest suite when they unpack upstairs.
