After 3 months of zero communication between Snowden and his family, Edward's father - Lon Snowden - will soon visit his son in Russia to meet with him after receiving visa from the Russian Embassy. According to Lon, he would want his son to return home so that he could have a fair trial and face the charges that have been filed against him by the United States Government; however, he fears that his son's fate would become like that of Bradley Manning.
To this end we can assume that the government's stand on this matter will be in strict compliance to the National Security risks (whatever they may be) and Mr. Snowden may never see a public trial for his crimes against the U.S. Government. He may end up being locked up in a maximum security prison where no visitors will be allowed - this is especially true if the information that he has are as sensitive as the government claims they are.
