Lisa, known worldwide as the Mona Lisa, was originally named Lisa del Giocondo (née Lisa di Antonio Maria Gherardini). She was a Florentine woman of noble descent from the Gherardini family in Tuscany, Italy.

Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci on commission from her husband, unaware that her portrait would become a global phenomenon.

Although she lived an ordinary life as a Florentine woman—married to a textile merchant and mother of five—her image as La Gioconda brought her posthumous fame.

The painting became the most famous artwork in the world and a lasting cultural icon. The historical identity of Lisa was debated for centuries, but in the 21st century, it was confirmed that she was indeed the woman portrayed by Leonardo.💚🌻🌹
