Lupita Nyong'o is a novice compared to the A-listers she had to contend with, but the "12 Years A Slave" star proved to amazing to be ignored and was crowned as People's 2014 Most Beautiful.

"It was exciting and just a major, major compliment," she tells the mag. "And especially, I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen."

Lupita said she is thrilled of the impact it might have on other girls. She said that she used to think that she wasn't beautiful because she didn't have fair skin, but her mother would always tell her otherwise. You go girl!
