American Flag Cake

Description

An easy cake to make because it starts with a box cake. Frost with your favorite white frosting for background and top with blueberries for stars and strawberries or raspberries for the stripes.

Ingredients

1 box cake mix, your choice of flavor
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
1 container vanilla frosting
1/3 cu. fresh blueberries, washed
1 pint (2 cups) fresh strawberries, washed, stems removed, strawberries cut in half or raspberries

Heat oven to 350°F or 325°F for dark or nonstick pan.

Bake cake mix as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan. Cool 10 minutes.

Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake; remove from pan to cooling rack, or keep cake in pan. Cool completely, about 1 hour.

Frost.

Flag design: arrange blueberries on upper left corner of frosted cake to create stars; arrange strawberries or raspberries in rows over frosted cake to create stripes. Serve immediately. Store covered in refrigerator.
