Russia attacked the centre of Sloviansk in Ukraine's Donetsk region with guided aerial bombs.

Five people were killed and nine others injured. The strike hit a civilian area, damaging residential buildings, vehicles, and the building of Latvia's Honorary Consulate. Rescue workers recovered the body of a woman trapped inside a destroyed car while continuing emergency operations.

This attack came the same day as Russia also launched missile strikes on the Kyiv region, where people were killed and dozens more injured.

Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defence to protect its people. Every delay gives Russia another opportunity to take more lives.
