Tiger’s Nest Monastery — Paro Taktsang — is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, clinging to a sheer granite cliff 10,200 feet above the Paro Valley. Built in 1692, it remains one of the world’s most remarkable architectural achievements, seeming almost to defy gravity.
The hike to the monastery begins through tall pines draped with prayer flags, following a winding trail that rises steadily toward the clouds. Along the way, the air grows thinner and quieter, broken only by the sound of wind and distant chanting from within the temple walls.
Reaching the viewpoint feels like stepping into a painting — the whitewashed walls and golden spires of Tiger’s Nest gleam against the emerald cliffs and deep blue sky. From this vantage, the scale of both nature and devotion becomes unmistakable.
More than a destination, Tiger’s Nest is a moment — suspended between earth and sky, power and peace. 🇧🇹✨
