When beachgoers saw this bizarre carcass on a New Zealand beach, they thought that they've stumbled upon an ancient sea monster.

Because of decomposition, the head looked ferocious and unrecognizable.

Relax though. Turns out that it might simply be a killer whale or orca. It was identified by a marine mammal expert based on its fin structure. It's safe to say that there are no real evidence of prehistoric sea monsters that might swallow those at sea... yet.
