Icons of Change Awards 2025 make waves during Metro Manila SDG Action Summit

The Icons of Change Awards 2025, held at Southville International School and Colleges, marked a groundbreaking convergence of visionaries, trailblazers and unsung heroes — all united under a common cause: advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and celebrating impact-driven leadership.

With standing-room-only attendance and a palpable air of purpose, the event cemented its legacy as the first of its kind in Metro Manila, bringing together leaders from government, business, academia, civil society and other sectors in a unified celebration of progress and possibility.

For the first time, Metro Manila hosted the inaugural SDG Action Summit, a regional platform that amplified the United Nations' 2025 theme: the International Year of Peace and Trust. The summit facilitated urgent conversations on collective action, local solutions and the need for stronger multi-sectoral engagement to drive measurable outcomes toward the 2030 Agenda.

But it wasn't just another summit — it was also the first event in the Philippines to recognize "SDG Action Stars," individuals and institutions whose grassroots initiatives, policy leadership, social innovations or entrepreneurial ventures are directly aligned with one or more of the 17 Global Goals. The awards honored changemakers from fields as varied as public health, media, clean energy, education, sustainable agriculture, peacebuilding and technology for development.
