Recipe

Description
This New England classic side dish is a sweet and tangy treat. It goes well with any meal, but is especially delicious with pork, like pork chops, pork roast, ham, bratwurst or smoked sausages. Think of it like a fancier version of apple sauce.
Ingredients
- 48 oz. Great Northern Beans, drained
- 4 T. butter
- 2 large Granny Smith or any type of cooking apples, cubed (3 c.)
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1 T. molasses
- 1 t. salt
Steps
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a large skillet, melt butter; add cubed apples; cook until tender. Add both sugars; stir and cook until sugars are melted. Stir in ketchup, cinnamon, molasses and salt; add beans; mix well. Pour mixture into a 2 quart casserole.
- Bake for about 1 hour.
