After days of harrowing wait (for Marvel fanboys, at least) the full trailer for Captain America: Winter Soldier has been unleashed, and it is looking good.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, it stars Chris Evans on the lead role, Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smulders on the roles of Black Widow and Maria Hill respectively. Another returning star is Sebastian Stan, as Roger’s old friend and new enemy, Bucky Barnes a.k.a Winter Soldier.
Less like a sequel, “The Winter Soldier” looks more like a reboot. While “The First Avenger” is set in the 1940s, fighting Nazis during the Second World War, the follow-up is set in the modern times, dealing with a new enemy using more advanced weaponries. Not to mention, Cap gets a new armor.
The second installment focuses more on Steve Rogers as he deals with the modern world. Chris Evans states “Steve Rogers continues his adjustment to the modern world, which began in The Avengers: "It's not so much about his shock with technology... It's more about the societal differences. He's gone from the 1940s to today; he comes from a world where people were a little more trusting, the threats not as deep. Now, it's harder to tell who's right and wrong. Actions you take to protect people from threats could compromise liberties and privacy. That's tough for Steve to swallow."
The film will be released April 4, 2014.
