“Fast and Furious” actor Paul Walker was killed Saturday afternoon in a car crash north of Los Angeles, his publicist confirmed. He was 40.
"Sadly I must confirm that Paul did pass away this afternoon," Ame Van Iden, Walker’s representative, said in an email.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, their deputies responded to a report of a collision in the community of Valencia and found a car engulfed in flames. Two people who were found in the car were declared dead at the scene.
The Santa Clarita Signal reports a red Porsche crashed into a light pole and tree and burst into flames.
According to the American actor’s Twitter account, Walker was on its way to attend a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide intended to aid Filipino victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Reach Out was created in 2010 as a quick response first-aid organization.
"He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.” Reach Out Worldwide said in a statement.
Walker came to stratospheric fame when he starred along-side Vin Diesel in the highly successful “The Fast and the Furious” franchise as former FBI agent Brian O'Conner.
