“I am feeling fantastic.”

These are the words of Glee actor Cory Monteith hours before he was found dead Saturday afternoon at Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver according to Glee director Adam Shankman.

Shankman added that he “had several interactions with him (Monteith) yesterday where he said that he was doing amazing”. The 31-year-old Canadian actor, who plays Finn Hudson in the Emmy nominated show has been dead for several hours when found after missing his checkout time, police said.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, and police ruled out this possibility. Still the cause of death was not immediately clear. The actor had been open about his difficulties with substance abuse. He voluntarily entered rehabilitation in April for drug addiction.

When he was 19, he was also treated in a rehab facility.

Off- and on-screen girlfriend Lea Michele who plays Rachel Berry on Glee has not released a statement yet. "We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time," said Michele’s representative, Molly Kawachi.
