In 2023, this ultra-rare Babe Ruth 'true' rookie card sold at auction for $7,200,000.

Only around 10 copies of the card are believed to exist, and this is one of the highest-graded copies out there. It had previously sat for decades in a Baltimore family’s collection.

At the time, it made it the third most expensive sports card of all time, and a record-high for any Babe Ruth baseball card.

But... less than 2 years later, the exact same card sold for 'only' $4,026,000.

It represents a 44% loss for the collector who made the £7.2m purchase in 2023, and the loss of $3,180,000 is believed to be the biggest single loss is sports card history. 📉
