On the heels of the celebrated author Tom Clancy’s untimely demise a week ago, a trailer for the new movie based on the phenomenal character he created has been released.
“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” delves on Clancy’s CIA analyst turned operative (and then President of the United States) and his origin before he became the daring intelligence officer that he is, kind of like James Bond’s “Casino Royal”.
On the leading role is Star Trek’s Chris Pine, following the steps of the other critically-acclaimed actors that played Ryan including Alec Baldwin (“The Hunt For the Red October”), Harrison Ford (“Patriot Games”, “Clear and Present Danger”), and recently Ben Affleck (“The Sum of All Fears”).
The movie will portray Ryan as an analyst freshly promoted to be an operative and is instantly thrown in on the web of lies and deception that molded him into the fearless and perceptive hero of Clancy’s universe.
This is the first Jack Ryan movie that is not based on any of Tom Clancy’s novel.
The movie also stars Keira Knightley in the role of Cathy Muller (his future wife), Kevin Costner as William Harper, and is directed by the critically-acclaimed Kenneth Branagh, who also plays the movie’s possible villain Viktor Cherevin.
