Showing off their collective athletic prowess, Prince William and Kate Middleton grabbed their cricket bats and headed off to a 2015 Cricket World Cup event in Christchurch, New Zealand today (April 14).

Dressed in formal finery, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge eschewed all propriety and took the field, swinging at a number of balls while the enamored crowed cheered them on.

Cricket legend Sir Richard Hadlee helped the Royals hone their chops, and it turns out Will made an impression when all was said and done.

Hadlee told press, "He played a very nice cover drive which I was impressed with. It got to the stage where he may have needed a helmet on one occasion but he did get the ball away nicely on the leg side and a very good one there over the fence too. There might have been one or two hockey shots there but there's nothing wrong with that!"
