- 1 cu. sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cu. coconut milk or heavy cream
- 2 tbl. butter
- 2 tsp. light corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cu. toppings: colored sprinkles, coconut, ground nuts, mini-chocolate chips....
Steps
- Combine sweetened condensed milk, the coconut milk or heavy cream, butter, corn syrup, and salt in a medium-large pan with a heavy bottom. Place the pan over medium heat, stir until the butter dissolves.
- Bring mixture to a boil, turn heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring frequently, until candy comes together in one piece in the bottom of the pan and starts a brown skin form on the bottom of the pan, takes about 10 minutes.
- Pour candy into a bowl or plastic container, taking care not to scrape the bottom—leave the brown skin in the pan. Cover bowl and let it come to room temperature, then refrigerate until the mixture is completely chilled, at least 2 hours.
