Description
If you are having a crowd sized gathering, this would be the perfect dessert. It is the vanilla version of the traditional Texas Sheet Cake and is quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 c. water
- 2 c. sugar
- 2¼ c. flour
- 1 t. baking soda
- ½ t. salt
- ½ c. sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 t. vanilla
- optional: sprinkles or chopped nuts for topping
- Frosting:
- 2 sticks butter
- ¼ c. milk
- 4½ c. powdered sugar, sifted
- ¼ t. salt
- 2 t. vanilla
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease an 11x17 inch sheet cake pan.
- Place butter and water in a large saucepan; stir constantly over medium heat until butter is melted.
- Remove from heat; whisk in the sugar, flour, baking soda, salt until smooth. Add the sour cream, eggs and vanilla; continue whisking until smooth.
