Description

Use a boxed German chocolate cake mix and canned coconut pecan frosting to make moist and dense truffles. It's a bit time consuming, but so worth it.

Ingredients

German Chocolate cake mix
canned coconut pecan frosting or your homemade coconut pecan frosting
dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate chips
flaked coconut
chopped pecans

Bake cake according to the box directions. Cool; crumble cake into a large bowl.

With your hands, mix in the can of frosting, mixing it all together until well combined and has uniform texture.

Roll the dough into balls, just slightly larger than 1 inch each; chill balls in the refrigerator.

While balls are firming up, melt chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave.

Dip each chilled ball in the melted chocolate; place on wax paper. Sprinkle with coconut and chopped pecans before the chocolate sets.

Allow to dry.

Serve.

Makes 40-50 balls.

**Tip: How to dip the balls in chocolate then transfer to wax paper while keeping the chocolate look smooth... put them on a lollipop stick, like a cake pop, but then after they’re hard, slip them off the stick.
