Make your own delicious Nacho cheese sauce from scratch in your own kitchen. It has better ingredients and takes just a few minutes to make. Serve with your favorite Nacho chips or fresh veggies.
Ingredients
- 2 T. butter
- 2 T. flour
- 1 c. whole milk
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1/8 t. cayenne pepper
- 8 oz. block of good quality sharp Cheddar cheese, freshly grated (like Cracker Barrel brand)*
Steps
- Melt butter in a medium size skillet over medium heat. When butter is melted, add flour; whisk until it combines into a smooth blond paste and starts to bubble around the edges.
- Add the milk to the skillet; continue whisking. When milk is incorporated, raise heat to high; bring to a boil; quickly lower the heat to a simmer; allow sauce to thicken slightly. Add cayenne pepper and salt; whisk to combine.
- Add the cheese; gently stir to allow cheese to melt. When cheese is completely melted and mixture is smooth, it's ready to serve.
