Description
This cake is so darn good, it will remind you of those wonderful cakes that grandma used to make. Everyone will enjoy its thin, flaky chocolate top layer sitting on top of a gooey, molten cocoa layer. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, melted separately, divided
- 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
- 3 eggs, divided (1 egg for bottom cake layer and 2 eggs for the filling layer)
- 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- 1/4 c. cocoa powder
- 16 oz. powdered sugar
- 1 t. vanilla extract
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare a 9 inch round, 3 inch deep cake pan or a 9x13 baking dish.* (A bundt works well too.)
- Combine cake mix, 1 egg and 1 stick melted butter; stir until well blended. Pat the mixture into the prepared pan; set aside.
