Description
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a classic Irish dessert. It is delicious whether it is served with or without the custard sauce.
Ingredients
- Custard Sauce:
- 6 large egg yolks
- 6 T. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. whole milk or half and half or cream
- 1 1/2 t. vanilla
- Streusel Topping:
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/4 c. old fashioned rolled oats
- 6 T. unsalted cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 c. sugar
- Cake:
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3 T. milk or cream
- 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 t. baking powder
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1/8 t. salt
- 3-4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced (1 lb. after slicing)
- powdered sugar, for dusting
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

- Bring milk to a simmer over medium heat.
