The tree is arranged on an 18 inch round board, but a large cutting board or cookie sheet, or a pizza pan could be used.

To make the star on top, use 5 slices of German Swiss cheese. Layer 2 slices on top of each other, then slice the other 3 in half diagonally. Cut those triangles again; discard or eat the smaller pieces. Layer the 5 triangles on each other to make the star. Place it at the top of the board.

Next, layer these rows in a Christmas tree shape:
Row 1 - 8 squares of Gouda.
Row 2 – 9 Wheat and Flax crackers.
Row 3 – Danish Havarti, overlapping each square quite a bit.
Row 4 – Poppy and Pepper crackers.
Row 5 – Irish Cheddar.
Row 6 – Multigrain crackers, spreading them out.
Row 7 – Dutch Gouda and German Swiss as needed to fill out the row.
Row 8 – Sea Salt and Black Pepper crackers.
Trunk – 1 Stone Ground Wheat cracker.
Decorate with a pretty bow.

Tip: If making this in advance, cover it well with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator. Don’t make it too far in advance or the crackers may lose some crispness. A couple of hours ahead should be okay.
