Heart Cake

Description

This cake is perfect for celebrating Valentine's Day, birthdays, or just love. It's easy to do and shows your love.

Ingredients

2 tubs of pre-made, store bought frosting, any flavor or color
non-stick cooking spray
1 box cake mix, plus ingredients to bake it, like oil, water, and eggs, any flavor
choice of sprinkles, icing letters, candles, optional

8x8 inch cake pan
8 inch round cake pan
serving plate, large tray, wax paper, or parchment paper

Preheat oven to cake package directions, most likely 350 degrees F. Prepare the square and round cake pans with non-stick cooking spray.

Mix together all of the cake ingredients called for on the box until smooth.

Pour half of the cake batter into the square pan and the remaining half into the round pan. Check to make sure that the cake batter in each pan's thickness looks similar.

Bake the cakes according to the cake box recipe. Cool.

Once cooled, remove the cakes from the pans.

Position the square cake so it looks like a diamond.

Slice the circle cake in half; place each half next to the square cake to form a heart shape with the cut sides next to the sides of the square cake. If needed, even out the tops of the cakes by slicing a little off the top so that they are level.

Apply the frosting liberally so that the frosting fills in any imperfections and will connect the 3 pieces together.

Decorate with sprinkles, icing letters, candles, etc.

Serve.
