Instead of buying the typical Easter egg coloring kits and dyes, use Kool-Aid. It's more economical, smells fantastic and gives beautiful bright colors.
hard boiled eggs
1 packet Kool-Aid for each desired color
1/2 c. boiling Water for each color
1 t. white vinegar for each color
Prepare the workspace with towels, paper towels or newspapers. Use empty egg cartons to place the finished dyed eggs, if desired.
For each color, choose a packet of Kool-Aid. Add 1/2 c. boiling water, 1 t. white vinegar, and 1 packet of chosen flavor/color Kool-Aid to a cup or mug. Stir until the Kool-Aid is dissolved.
Use a spoon to carefully add each egg to the chosen color; let sit for 1-2 minutes or until the desired color is reached.
Use the spoon to carefully remove the eggs from the cups; place on the paper towels, newspaper or towels.
Let sit undisturbed for about 5 minutes or until no longer wet before placing it back in the egg carton.
