The government have repeatedly stated that wherever possible, solar plans should avoid using best and most versatile (BMV) agricultural land for their arrays of solar panels.
Almost three quarters of the proposed 1,900 acre East Park Energy site is on BMV land, and as far as I can tell, East Park have made no serious efforts to explore alternative, brownfield locations.
The Minister is on record as stating that prime agricultural land should be avoided and I reminded him that a site of this scale would create a generational loss of arable land and food production capacity in North Bedfordshire.
