🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ A Heartfelt Plea from LGBTIQ Refugees Struggling to Survive in South Sudan 🫂
Today, I’m writing with a trembling heart — not just for myself, but for every LGBTIQ refugee trapped in the camp here in South Sudan. Each of us carries a story filled with pain, escape, and unbearable loss. We ran from violence, from families who turned against us, from governments that wanted us erased… and we came here hoping to finally breathe.
But even in the camp, safety is fragile.
Every night, many of us sleep with fear in our chests, not knowing if tomorrow will bring threats, hunger, or another reminder that we are seen as less than human. Some of us have no families left. Some carry wounds that still bleed inside. Some wake up crying because the trauma refuses to let us go.
We live crowded in small tents, often with no food for days. Clean water, medicine, and basic dignity are things we fight for constantly. Many of us are sick, traumatized, and mentally exhausted. We are trying to survive in a place that wasn’t made for people like us — people who have already lost everything.
And yet… we still hope.
Hope that someone out there will see our struggles.
Hope that kindness still exists.
Hope that we are worthy of life, love, and a future.
