With a barely contained excitement, the world waited as Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, made her way from being a commoner turned to royalty to a newly-wed turned to mother.

It's a boy! The Royal officials have officially confirmed the birth and gender of the baby through a notice placed near the gates of Buckingham Palace. The couple has expressed their joy through the brief message that William released: "We could not be happier."
