It seems Old Testament movies are the trend these days. With Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” coming out next year, Ridley Scott is currently whipping up his own epic of biblical proportions based on the story of Moses, “Exodus”.
Fresh from his blockbuster stint in The Dark Knight trilogy, English actor Christian Bale is not headlining the casts as Moses himself, a role made iconic my Charlton Heston in Cecil B. Demille’s highly acclaimed “The Ten Commandments” 60 years ago.
"It's an intriguing piece, because it's very few people that I've met that have actually read the Torah, the Pentateuch, the five books of Moses, all the way through, “Most people read snippets. If you read it all the way through, it's harsh. It's really 'Old Testament.' And violence in the extreme. He was not a man of any half measures whatsoever." According to Christian Bale.
Meanwhile, Ridley Scott, in an interview with Esquire magazine, called religion "the biggest source of evil", saying, "Everyone is tearing each other apart in the name of their personal god. And the irony is, by definition, they're probably worshiping the same god".
Set to release December 2014, “Exodus” also stars Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, and Ben Kingsley.
