Sarcasm never ends in the human mind and while others are intended for indirect insults others are just for pure fun. We do have funny reactions sometimes when we're hungry - just ask your mother, I'm sure she has memorized every face you have ever made during your childhood and especially when you're hungry. But there's nothing to be embarrassed about (except when you get invited to meet your girlfriend's parents) it is after all just human nature.
