The comic book world might have turned into a living hell courtesy of Ben Affleck taking the role of the Dark Knight, but there is still a reason to rejoice this side of DC’s casting department.

Actor Bryan Cranston has signed a multi-appearance deal with Warner Bros. to play Superman’s archenemy, Lex Luthor. Rolling Stones reported that Cranston will be in at least six appearances as Luthor in the DC movie universe, and probably more depending on the franchise’s success.

The actor reached the viewer’s mainstream of consciousness while playing Walter White, a promising chemist-turned-methamphetamine manufacturer for AMC’s Emmy Award winning drama series, “Braking Bad”, in which Cranston garnered three consecutive awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Recently, the actor dominated a fan survey over which actor can play the billionaire villain. Cranston then expressed interest in the call, saying that Warner Bros. can just “give him a call”.

This gem of an announcement was made on the heels of the fans’ backlash over the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, a roadblock Warner Bros. will have to survive to successfully launch their first ever superhero crossover film.
