Description
Make your favorite restaurant chicken and dumplings at home in the comfort of your own home. With just a few ingredients and a little time, you can make this delicious dinner. Add a salad and your favorite veggie for a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 3 -6 lb. frying chickens
- 2 qt. water
- 2 t. salt
- 1/2 t. freshly ground black pepper
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 t. baking soda
- 1/2 t. salt
- 3 T. shortening
- 3/4 c. buttermilk ( Ior add 1 T. vinegar to 1 c. milk, let sit 5 minutes, then measure 3/4 c.)
Steps
- Place chicken in a Dutch oven, add water and the salt, bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 hour or until tender, until it almost falls off of the bone.
- Remove chicken from the broth and cool. Bone the chicken and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
