While the anti-Avengers movie “Justice League” is still in troubled waters, another geek culture-loving director is sheep-herding another superhero group movie this side of DC Universe.

Fresh from pitting towering robots against colossal monsters in his Japanese mech-against-monster genre-inspired movie “Pacific Rim”, Mexican director Guillermo del Toro once again dabbled into nerd pop culture as he spearheads the movie adaptation of DC Comics’ “Justice League Dark”.

Also known as “Dark Universe” and Heaven Sent”, “Justice League Dark” is about a rag-tag group of paranormal superheroes and not-of-this-world beings from the more mysterious and supernatural world of DC Universe, handling missions and battling enemies unfit for Batman and his super-powered friends.

Del Toro is planning to include the cadaver-possessing ghost Deadman, the antihero Etrigan the Demon, the legendary elemental humanoid Swamp Thing, the sorcerer Zatanna, the occultist Madame Xanadu, and the vengeful spirit Spectre into his adaptation, being lead by the paranormal detective John Constantine (yes, the character played by Keanu Reeves).

The director and his writers are currently working on the story and still waiting for Warner Bros.’ go signal.
