distinguished family including her brother, the former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, Beryl broke barriers with grace and competence. She became the first Black person to serve as Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe’s third-largest city, a remarkable achievement that spoke to her skill as an urban planner and her deep commitment to public service.

Upon returning home, she continued serving with the same resolve, including as Chairperson of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, where she earned respect for her firm, principled leadership during a period of great public pressure.
