Does "East Africa Media recognise the existence" of South Sudan as an independent country?

I'm just curious because we have seen a great deal of error from our neighbours' media channels. This is an interesting challenge for aspiring media practitioners.

The national media in Kenya and Uganda have unknowingly aired live news about South Sudan's affairs several times.

Could this be due to pressure on news timing or a lack of real research at least the professionalsim could have been demonstrated.

Raila Amol Odinga's state visit to South Sudan in March 2025, the flag of Sudan, was televised by Kenya National Television as a South Sudan storyline.

In a live broadcast from April 2022, two years ago, Uganda National Television also referred to the Sudanese conflict as the South Sudan fighting.

How does the East African media portray South Sudan, and are they aware that we South Sudanese and Sudanese from north are two different nations?

If so, why aren't they properly researching South Sudan's flag and distinguishing between South and North Sudan.
