The recent announcement and further development of the “Superman vs. Batman” movie brought the comic book world into a roller coaster ride of emotions; from complete ecstasy to utter suspense, and just recently, to pure rage.

Three days later, the world came in shock (like the sinking of Titanic-shock) within seconds when Ben Affleck was chosen to be the eight actor to take the mantle of Batman opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman. And even before a single frame of shot has been taken, the internet turned into an outpour of hatred calling off Affleck’s casting.

The actor’s previously forayed into superhero films with the disastrously panned “Daredevil”.

Activism website (known mostly for its social movement-related causes) is the first one to dabble in this mud of disappointment by launching a petition to remove Affleck from the role because he will fail to do “justice” to the role. It has now garnered 38,000 signatures for support, and the number is still growing.

Within the first hour of the announcement, over 100,000 tweets poured over, 70% of which is not happy about the decision. The trending hashtag #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck also dominated the social media, with ridiculous suggestions like Nicholas Cage, Kanye West, and Butthead from angry fans.

It also did not help that rumors started to circulate that “The Dark Knight Trilogy” and “Inception” director Christopher Nolan, who is considered a god among men for raising superhero movies to a new level, quit as “Superman vs. Batman”s executive producer after Affleck’s casting. Though, this has to be confirmed, yet.

To be released July 2015, the movie will be directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Warner Bros, both of which will have to pursue the world yet that Affleck will not ruin the iconic character to the grounds again.
