While rocking designer duds from Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein for the Mark Seliger-shot spread, the "300" actor chatted about his experience portraying Superman as well as the final product.

On his second go at the superhero role:
"I was actually up for Superman before. I was really close to getting the job, and then the director changed and I was no long part of the plan."
On his initial reaction to being selected for the part:
"When I found out I got the part, I was home playing 'World of Warcraft.' I had to play it cool. but the second we hung up, I just sprinted up and down my stairs cheering and whooping like a madman. I kept looking in the mirror, going, 'I don't believe it. I'm Superman? I'm Superman!'"
On wanting to make the audience proud:
"This character matters so much to so many people. I want to get that right. I want to do it justice. I want people to believe in the character and have faith in the character and kids to grow up wanting to be Superman."
