Honoring the Legacy of Alpha Troop 🚁⚔

Alpha Troop, 6-17 Air Cavalry Squadron (ACS) cased its guidon for the final time during a deactivation ceremony in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility on Feb. 15, 2026. For over a century, Alpha Troop has proudly answered the nation's call under 6-17 ACS, deploying and supporting the Vietnam War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve with crucial aviation assets from the OH-58 Kiowa to the AH-64 Apache.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Troopers (Past and Present) of Alpha Troop for providing unmatched support to 6-17 ACS, the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, and the 4th Infantry Division. Your service and contributions to the Air Cavalry legacy will live on FOREVER.
