I am here today not only as a political leader, but also as a witness and participant in Kenya’s journey from a one-party state to a vibrant, if sometimes turbulent, multiparty democracy. My career has taught me one powerful truth: democracy flourishes not in the shouting of one voice, but in the chorus of many voices coming together in dialogue, compromise, and cooperation.

In my years of public service, I have seen alliances built, governments formed, and sometimes broken. Yet, one lesson stands out: Kenya moves forward only when leaders rise above personal ambition and put the nation first. Coalitions like NARC, CORD, NASA, and Azimio were born out of the belief that unity across divides is stronger than the politics of division.

But let me speak directly to you, the young people here today. You are not just the leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders of today. The choices you make will determine whether Kenya’s politics remains trapped in personality cults and ethnic divides, or whether it rises to a new era of issue-based politics, integrity, and hope.

You must reject corruption, resist manipulation, and embrace values of service. Demand accountability not only from your leaders, but also from yourselves. The future you dream of will not be handed to you, it will be built by you.

Strengthening inter-party cooperation is not just about political convenience. It is about safeguarding the rule of law, protecting democratic institutions, and ensuring that no Kenyan feels excluded, regardless of t heir background or beliefs. For democracy without justice, jobs, and opportunity is an empty promise.

Therefore, I call for the creation of a structured Inter-Party Youth Council, a forum where young leaders from across the political spectrum can engage in dialogue, build trust, and prepare for the responsibilities of leadership. This is how we will secure a future of unity, peace, and shared prosperity.

Ladies and gentlemen, Kenya does not need politics of strongmen. Kenya needs strong institutions, strong values, and strong young leaders like you. If you can walk this path, then the promise of our democracy will outlive us all.

Thank you, and may God bless you.
