With all the Internet heat Ben Affleck is getting these days because of the DC movie role he landed, his Hollywood comrades are all quick to have his back. And it gets all the weirder when a Marvel veteran also lends a helping hand.

James Franco, famous for remarkably playing Spider-Man’s troubled enemy/best friend, Green Goblin (alright, after Wilhelm Defoe did it), says Affleck has already proved himself both as an actor and a director. He also went as far as saying that the 41-year old actor should also direct the Man of Steel sequel.

Franco also added that he does not blame Affleck for the failure that is the Daredevil movie, saying "as an actor, there's this crazy thing where you could be good, you do good work, but then if you're in a movie that's not so good, they blame you…That's just crazy thinking."

This comes at the heels of another Batman contender Josh Brolin’s defense for Affleck, claiming “ You now, come on, the guy’s matured, and he’s grown, and look at the work that he’s doing now. I’m going to defend him literally until the death.”

The Internet might hat Affleck that much, but surely, his friends love him. We guess he will stick around.
