The smoke of DC Comics’ Man of Steel’s explosive landing into theaters has not been cleared yet, but updates from the Marvel Studio’s Phase 2 are already zooming through the internet, yes, we are talking about the second installment of Marvel’s superhero reunion, The Avengers 2.
One these is the film’s director and writer Joss Whedon’s announcement to include siblings Pietro and Wanda Maximof, a.k.a. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. As fans are well aware of, the two are staple casts of the superhero ensemble.
“Well, besides the fact that I grew up reading them, their powers are very visually interesting.” According to Whedon on Late Night when asked by Jimmy Fallon why he intends to include the mutant siblings.
But Whedon’s decision has proven to be a Catch-22 for him, as director Bryan Singer also announced his plan of including the two mutant characters in his upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, a film owned by an entirely different outfit, Fox Studios.
As of today, Whedon is still dodging questions relating to the ramifications of his decisions as far as rights and clash of universes are concerned. What we only know is that his enthusiasm to involve the two characters in his next film never ceases.
