Still waiting on that invite to Kate Middleton's baby shower? Well, we're sorry to break it to you, but chances are it didn't get lost in transit. Actually, you probably never even made the guest list (wait for it...) because there is no list at all.
Or so "royal experts" are saying. (Side note: How does one become a royal expert? And can we apply?)
According to ABC News, the Duchess of Cambridge is following in the royal family's well-heeled footsteps — neither Queen Elizabeth nor Queen Victoria threw a bash in honor of their bumps — and is opting out of a lavish (read: American) baby shower.
Her reasons? Well, for one, $$$$. It's not exactly proper royal-person etiquette to accept gifts when you can buy, oh, basically anything in the world you want/need. Two, see above. Unlike how we do it state side, in British culture it's more customary for grandparents, instead of pals, to indulge parents-to-be with presents, like pushchairs. (Brit-speak for strollers!)
Word has it the other famous Middleton (that would be Pippa) still wants to plan a small shindig, but experts agree if she does, "The queen is not going show up." Burn.
