Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi

Dow Corning Corp.'s silicones are helping protect the world's furthest leaning man-made tower in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

According to the Williams Township-based company, Dow Corning insulating glass and weatherproofing silicone sealants were used in the facade of the 35-story, 520-foot

The tower is certified by Guinness World Records to lean 18 degrees westward, which is 14 degrees more than "The Leaning Tower of Pisa."

Officials from Dow Corning say the company's products were used "thanks to their outstanding performance in extreme climates and their successful track record on many prestigious and challenging projects around the globe."

Once complete, the "Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi" will comprise office space on floors two through 16 and floors 18 and up will house a 189-room Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel.
