Ingredients
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 T. dried minced onion
- 1 t. low-sodium beef base (or a beef bouillon cube)
- 1 t. low-sodium chicken base (or a chicken bouillon cube)
- 2 T. packed light brown sugar
- 2 T. apple cider vinegar
- 1 T. low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 lb. lean ground beef, raw
- 8-12 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: cheese, ketchup, pickles, onions, mustard
Steps
- Place a slow cooker liner in the base of the slow cooker for easy clean up.
- Add all ingredients except for ground beef and toppings; carefully stir. Set slow cooker to High. Add beef; carefully stir until beef is completely coated. Cover; cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally to break up ground beef.
- Uncover after 1 hour of cook time; continue cooking on High for 2 ½ - 3 hours, uncovered, until most of the liquid has cooked off. Continue to stir occasionally, breaking up any beef chunks.
