In the span of two hours, the entire Chinese community, as well as the entire world was captivated with the rescue operation of a newly born Chinese baby boy who was stuck inside a lavatory pipe.

Police and most people speculated that the mother purposely dropped the child inside the pipe but now they've dropped any charges against her. The baby was found crying and stuck inside the pipe after the police was contacted by the mother. The baby was removed after almost 3 hours by carefully prying the pipe apart. She did not initially state her relation with the child which made the police suspicious of her.

Investigations proved however, that all of it was an accident and the mother was only too severely traumatized to speak up immediately. She said that the baby was born privately and until the rescue, no one even knew of her pregnancy.

In a country where pregnancy outside marriage is highly prohibited and even having two children will give you huge fines to pay, this situation isn't exactly uncommon. The baby is under the care of grandparents and the father has been contacted.
